New Employee Announcement: Catherine Andersen

 

Catherine Andersen joins the Managed Solution team as a Channel Manager on February 2, 2017.  Catherine started her career as a sales rep for a Distributor and worked her way up to a Storage Specialist. From there, Catherine progressed to becoming a Distribution Channel Manager for a storage manufacturer.  With over 15 years of experience in the technology industry, Catherine is passionate about delivering the best customer outcome and retaining relationships.
When not working hard, Catherine can be found going on family hikes at Torrey Pines or fishing on the Mississippi River. Back on her parents' farm in Wisconsin, she enjoys Morel mushroom hunting.  For the past four seasons, Catherine has been the "Dugout Director" for her son's LYCO Baseball team!

Catherine has a daughter, Savannah, and a son, Jake. Over the summer, she turned her neighborhood into a "Ghost Town" for Halloween, complete with storefront themes and design concepts for each homeowner. The neighborhood attracted over 1,600 people Halloween night and even received a write up in Bressi Living Magazine!
Joining the sales team, Catherine is looking forward to embracing the services side of sales and parlaying her channel experience into this role. We are beyond excited to welcome Catherine, and we cannot wait to see what great things she brings to our ballgame!

Sean is a Systems Engineer working with our Systems Integration team and a key contributor responsible for the success of SCCM deployments to our top client sites worldwide.  Sean has created a custom application named SHARC that receives constant accolades from the customer and is a major factor that has significantly led to successful SCCM implementations. His knowledge of System Center, his tenacity in overcoming technical issues and his willingness to take on new and unexpected challenges makes him one of the most respected team members, both internally and from the customer’s perspective.   Sean is always a pleasure to work with, facing challenges head on with determination and commitment.

Don Theriault joins Managed Solution as a Project Manager. Don grew up in the province of Alberta, Canada. Born in Edmonton, and grew up in both Edmonton and Calgary, but he considers Calgary home having spent most of his life in Calgary and this is where most of my family reside.  Don is happy to have made the move to sunny San Diego, where he hopes to some day retire.
After receiving his college education in Information Technology, Don started his career in 1981 in the telecommunications industry.  Since then, he has had various roles throughout the technology industry, including Programmer Analyst, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Team Manager, and IT Project Manager.
Outside of work, Don lives an active lifestyle.  Some of his many activities to stay in shape include playing hockey, biking, hiking, golfing, scuba diving, and walking on the beach.  We are so excited to welcome Don to our team, and we can't wait to see what experiences he can bring for us.

Shawn joined the Managed Solution team as a Project Manager on May 31, 2016. He joins us with 20 years of technology experience, including managing projects and people in the IT arena. Shawn earned his MCSE over three versions and also had the opportunity to write questions on the A+ certification exam. He also has his PMP.
An Orange County native, Shawn has now been living in San Diego for the past 15 years. He is married with three daughters, Savannah, Isabella and Ava, along with their dog named Kaiser, two turtles and two guinea pigs. In his free time, Shawn has loved to play soccer for over 30 years. He is also the commissioner of a 15 year old fantasy football league and also has success playing on FanDuel.

Responsibilities:
As a senior member of our Professional Services team, you’ll design, implement, and support network infrastructure solutions for Managed Solution clients. You will work directly with clients to uncover their unique needs and design custom network strategies, that’s right – we’re looking for you to architect client solutions. You’ll be responsible for network design and administration (routing, switching, firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, load balancers, troubleshooting) in medium to large LAN/WAN environments, including Cloud environments in Azure and Amazon AWS. In this role, you’ll interface with clients, project managers, and other engineers to ensure the success of your projects and high network availability. Possibly most important since we are a Microsoft Partner, we need someone who is either pro-Microsoft technologies or at least agnostic about OSs. Basically, we are looking for a network engineering rock star who can do it all and is looking for an opportunity to correct failing networks and replace them with architectural standards that you yourself get to develop.

 

Qualifications:
•CCNP or higher strongly preferred
•Superior knowledge of networking topology and static/dynamic routing protocols, including TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, and EGP/BGP
•Superior troubleshooting skills, including latency identification
•Proficiency in networking administration, including the configuration and maintenance of managed routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points, CSU/DSUs, and controllers
•Proven success in designing and maintaining highly stable LAN/WAN environments, especially as an external consultant
•Proficiency in virtualized networking (VPN, VLAN) and broad exposure to virtualization in general (Azure, AWS, VMware)
•Knowledge of network security architectures and measures, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning
•Proficiency in emergency mitigation and remediation: viruses, denial of service
•Service-oriented attitude as you deliver an outstanding client experience: developing a strong rapport, mapping their particular needs to solutions and communicating strategy plans
•Ability to work in a Cisco+Linux environment one day and a Dell+Fortinet+Windows 10 environment the next
•High levels of project ownership and individual accountability in a results-oriented environment
•Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and innovation
•Demonstrated commitment to strong documentation and repeatable standards
•Ability to work a flexible schedule for occasional overnight maintenances, upgrades, etc.
•Valid CA Drivers’ License and willingness to travel to client sites within the San Diego region
Bonus Knowledge/Skills:
•Wireless Access Point monitoring and tuning experience
•Significant Systems Administration experience, esp. in a Windows environment:
◦Windows Server 2008/2012/2012R2
◦Microsoft Exchange/Active Directory administration
◦Managing backups and disaster recovery
•Voice, video, and data services experience, including configuration and administration of VOIP and Skype for Business
