Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10536 being rolled out.

As written by Gabe Aul on Windows.com
We’re rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10536 right now to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. You may have noticed it’s taken us a little longer than we would have liked to get a new build out to you – please read my post from earlier this week on the delay. I am happy to say this build has progressed through all our internal rings and now is ready for Windows Insiders.
Insiders updating from Build 10512 will need to update their devices twice. You will see Build 10514 and Build 10536.1000. Run these updates. After these updates are installed, you’ll receive another update which will be Build 10536.1004. This process will take a bit more time than usual but this update has all the important fixes for Build 10536 so you will want to make sure you take BOTH updates. If you don’t have a problem going back to Windows Phone 8.1, you can update directly to this build (10536.1004).
Here are some of the improvements we’ve made since the last build:
Updated Photos app: The Photos app has been updated to include features you have been asking for to help you do more with your photos. This update introduces a folder view that makes it easy for you to see your OneDrive and PC folders in the Photos app. On your phone, you can also see folders on your SD card.

This update also brings faster photo viewing and context menus. Specifically, for phones, zoom and panning is faster, and we’ve introduced favorites. Make sure you’re running the latest version of the Photos app from the Store to see all these improvements on your phone (version 15.9).

This update hasn’t yet rolled out for PCs but will roll out shortly.
One-handed mode: When we introduced one-handed mode for larger phones, we heard feedback saying many Insiders would like it even on smaller devices. In this build, we have also enabled the ability to use one-handed mode on all phones which can be enabled by pressing and holding the Start button. When you do this, your screen will slide down so you can reach items at the top of your screen.

To slide the screen back up, tap the black space at the top of the screen, or press and hold the Start button again. One-handed use will also naturally time out after several seconds and return to your regular view. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Configure automatic Microsoft Intune enrollment of Windows 10 devices when joining Azure Active Directory

As written by Nickolaj on Scconfigmgr.com
If your company is evaluating Windows 10, which I assume they are, one of the new features with Windows 10 is that you can have your end users to join their off-the-shelf purchased Windows 10 PC to Azure Active Directory. With this feature, users simply just have to know their email and password to get started. For IT departments, they’re able to configure their Azure Active Directory subscription for automatic enrollment of AAD-joined devices with Microsoft Intune. To me, this capability is simply just brilliant. End-users are now able to simply just log on, get all their settings and apps and automatically be managed by the IT department.
In this post I intend to outline the steps required to setup the Azure subscription with Azure Active Directory for automatic Microsoft Intune enrollment.

Requirements

In order to enable your Azure Active Directory subscription, you’ll need to have purchased Azure Active Directory Premium licenses (or setup a trial for 30-days). As well for the premium licenses, you’ll of course also need a Microsoft Intune tenant. In order to setup a demo environment for the purpose of demonstrating this feature, I’ve performed the following steps:
•Registered a Microsoft Intune tenant by signing up for a 30-day trial
•Signed up for Azure with the tenant created for Microsoft Intune
•Added a 30-day trial of Azure Active Directory Premium
•Assigned an Azure Active Directory Premium license to my Global Administrator account (this is required to be able to configure the Microsoft Intune app through the Azure portal)
At this point, I’ve created a few test users and an All Users group in the Azure Active Directory. This group comes in handy at a later stage when we’re about to configure the Microsoft Intune application through the Azure portal.
It’s also worth mentioning that every user that’s gonna have their Azure Active Directory joined devices automatically enrolled into Microsoft Intune, needs to have an Azure Active Directory Premium license assigned.

Quick Tips & Tricks: Customize Windows 10 Start Menu

Start menu is unarguably one of the greatest and oldest trademarks of Windows. Microsoft tried to get rid of it in Windows 8, but had to bring it back after strong opposition from users. Now with Windows 10 company has innovated once again to make this oldie-goldy useful and important. And it worth be mentioned that company’s efforts haven’t gone waste. Start menu in Windows 10 is much more useful and customizable than it has ever been. Let’s try some easy customization tricks that can help us in tweaking the Start menu according to our own preferences:

1. Resizing the Menu

If you’re unhappy with your current Start menu size and wish it would’ve been a bit bigger (or perhaps smaller, depending on your taste) then you can simply resize it by holding your mouse pointer on the top edge of the menu and dragging it up or down. If you resize down, it’ll make the menu wider; if you resize up, it’ll shrink the width of the menu.

2. Live Tiles Customization Options

As you know already, Windows 10 Start menu has got live tiles. And thankfully, Microsoft has provided a ton of ways to customize them. For example:
You can resize your tiles – just right-click it, hold your mouse pointer on the “Resize” option and then choose a size from the menu that’ll appear next to this option.

If you wish, you can also turn off live updates for any of your tiles. Just right-click the tile and select “Turn live tile off” option.

Finally, you can also pin or unpin tiles. Just right-click the tile and select “Pin to Start” or “Unpin from Start” option depending on what you want to do. If a tile that you want to pin is currently not displaying on the menu, then you can find it from All Apps view and then pin it from there. The same is true for items on the left hand side of the menu!

Give a different color to your Start menu: Blue is the trademark color that Microsoft has been using proudly in most versions of Windows since the very beginning, but if you wish you can give the color of your choice to your Start menu. Just right-click on any empty space in the menu and select “Personalize.” This will bring a “Color and Appearance” dialog box before you from where you can select any awesome or awful color scheme that you like.

Get Rid of Tiles Completely : Finally, if you don’t want those Live Tiles and want to get back to a Windows 7 styled simple Start menu then you can get that thing too! Just unpin all the items and resize down the menu until it looks classic!

Microsoft launches Snip, its new screenshot tool for Windows

sinp5 managed solution

Microsoft quietly launched its new screenshot tool, Snip (beta) for Windows. The tool lets users take screenshots, snip, and annotate as well. The main feature of Snip is the ability to add voice your voice to the screenshots. Users can share this videos as MP4, and embed them on web pages as well.

If you take a lot of screenshots on Windows, you should definitely try it out as it makes the processor of editing and explaining a screenshot much easier. It’s worth noting that the app is currently in beta, so don’t be surprised if you hit some bugs. Thankfully though, the app is available for download for everyone, and you can grab it from here.

You will be able to watch Apple’s upcoming event live using Microsoft Edge only in Windows 10

You will be able to watch Apple’s upcoming event live using Microsoft Edge only in Windows 10

Apple just announced its upcoming event, where the company is expected to release the next iPhone. Now, if you’re a Windows 10 user, you’ll be glad to know that you’ll finally be able to watch Apple’s event without using any media player like VLC. Yep, Apple has added support for Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 – the company’s live event page states:
Requirements: Live streaming uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.
If you’re planning to watch the company’s upcoming event, you’ll now be able to watch it “officially” using Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. To be honest, this is kind of surprising as the company didn’t allow Windows users (and Android users) to watch their live streams.
For those wondering, the company’s upcoming event is on September 9 at 10 a.m PDT.
